For an industry to succeed it needs all the required resources and most importantly the skilled employees. Many big organizations have started investing massively on the training and development part with the intention of attaining a desired goal. The main challenge faced by most of the organizations and learners are not being able to recall what they have learned and also as per the survey conducted it shows that it is a human tendency to forget almost 70-90% of what they have learned or absorbed that too within a span of one month.
This is indeed not a good sign for neither the company nor the learners. Even after such tremendous effort and rigorous training if the learners are not able to remember what they have learned then the very purpose of training is not served. In this blog I will be highlighting few points that can be beneficial for the organization as well as for the employees.
Let us now Focus on Few Ideas to Enhance the Retention Rates in E-learning Course:
Continuous Training:
It is almost impossible for anyone to remember everything in one go. Whatever task it may be, it takes a lot of efforts and practices to master it and there is no exception for training as well. Repeated training helps the employees in assimilating knowledge and retain it for a longer period of time. Also, in a situation where they forget they always have the option of going back and referring to that particular slide for recall.
Divide Information into Parts:
Thinking from a learners perspective, it is never a good idea to burdened someone with massive information at once. As per the survey bite size learning facilitates greater understanding, application and retention. Instead of bombarding learners with too much of information in the beginning itself developing micro E-learning modules seems to be a better option. This will not only build the interest but also helps the learners to take the course at any point of time and ensures longer retention.
Create an Interactive Module:
Continuous learning with no or less interaction can be boring at times. Even a PPT slides delivers such content where you can find only the required information with no interactions. Learners will get bored and tend to lose interest in the module and the very purpose of the E-learning course will not be served. Include various types of inter-activities such as click on the tabs, images, drag and drop or even a scenario based learning etc. will definitely help the module in becoming more interactive.
Tracking the Progress Level:
Inter-activities helps in making the module more interactive and engaging the employees in successfully completing the module, but keeping a track of how an employee is progressing helps in measuring how effective the module has been these far. With the help of this report they can bring in the necessary changes whenever required.
Make an Emotional Connection:
Making employees remember each and every thing is not an easy task. To ensure that the employees are well versed and can remember the content for a longer time they can build an emotional connect with the module. They can use a scenario based situations, storytelling, animations or even case studies to make it emotionally engaging. This will help them in remembering the content for a longer period of time.
E-learning is trending almost everywhere and many of them are getting acquainted to it quite easily. The only challenge that lies in the process is the retention and recall ability of an employee. All the hurdles and obstacles can be taken down by following all the above mentioned points.
