As we know that Moodle LMS is the world’s most popular and most used learning management system.So there are many version released on behalf of Moodle developers. Some of the versions are Ex: Moodle 1.0, Moodle 2.0 & Moodle 3.0 etc, On 10th of July, Moodle 3.3.1 will be released along with versions 3.2.4 and 3.1.7
The latest major version release of Moodle LMS i.e. Moodle 3.4 – is released on 2nd of November 2017.The new Moodle 3.4 is focused to improve the Usability Experience of the Moodle users without adding any major features.
1. Merging Participants and Enrollments page
Currently, Moodle has two different pages with an almost identical list of users and without any significant advantage.So with the help of the New version of Moodle We can merge both lists on the same page seamlessly so that they are easy to find, can be filtered through a variety of criteria for quick search and results and allows for important actions such as messaging, enrolling, unenrolling and much more in one location.
2. Calendar Project
The new improved calendar interface of Moodle gives user-friendly and modern features like drag and drop events that are found in many other places throughout Moodle.
3. Promote the Moodle Mobile app in core
Since most of the learning is now happening through Mobile devices, with the help of Moodle Mobile app All Moodle users can access their learning, courses and through their app. In Moodle 3.4 , there is an increased visibility of the app in Moodle core through improvements such as:
A hint for users accessing their profile page (and mobile is enabled on the Moodle site) that they can log in via the app;
A warning on the notifications page when Mobile services are disabled to encourage users to configure them;
Adding a footer promotion of “Get Moodle on your Mobile” in all footers on themes just like Moodle Docs.
4. Usability improvements for course overview/dashboard
In Moodle 3.4 version the dashboard gives Moodle users access to a timeline of activities, direct links to activities, and a courses tab – all aimed to clearly display course progress and easy links to start learners’ studies!
Better navigation from the activity’s course from the dashboard timeline;
A better look of the overview when designed to appear as a block or a docked block;
5. Adding Inspire Analytics to Core
Apart from all these improvements, there is another significant feature i.e improvements to dynamic SCSS compilation/caching.
Previously a plugin, Inspire Analytics, is now available in Moodle 3.4 core to provide predictive and descriptive data analysis.
