Becoming an eLearning specialist is more than just education, tools, equipment, and focus; it is also about finding your style and growing as an eLearning professional.
Today, I will be sharing some of the tips to become an e-learning professional :
1. Learn the ABC’s of e-learning
This is the first step that you will be taking while becoming a professional. You should understand what is e-learning? How is it done? What are the methods? Tools used? Terminologies, jargons and the facts about the industry. So if one has the basics right in the place then the foundation will be strong in the relevant field.
2. Learn, apply & improve
As you are in the learning field you should be learning new technologies, theories, and processes for creating effective learning. Be sure to use the technologies, processes that you have learned. Hold yourself to high standards and learn from your mistakes to improve on your success.
3. Learn to express
By expressing you will understand the challenges associated with each phase and you will learn how to support a team of developers to achieve their learning objective. Even you can expose yourself to as many e-learning courses as you can and by exploring different designs and by using creative approaches you can build proficiency in the field.
4. Visit conference and Socialize
You can attend the e-learning conferences which is happening around you and make connections with the people who are experts in the field. Try to socialize and engage in the e-learning community by writing blogs and sharing your thoughts. Also, try new approaches and see what works. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. That is exactly how we learn.
5. Provide a chance
You can also provide a chance to the learners to practice what you have learned and get their feedback as this will help you to identify how to make the learning curve sharper.
6. Be passionate
Perseverance will help you to continue pushing yourself to the limit. Passion can allow you to come up with genuinely creative learning experiences. Perseverance will allow you to always offer a fresh solution to the problems and Passion will help you to stay focused on your goals. So by creating e-learning with passion and perseverance, you can contribute to this field in a unique way and you will be surprised by what you can accomplish.
Apart from the above tips, a good eLearning professional should have a good grasp on Learning Analytics and how to interpret them to improve the design of eLearning resources.
