A Video is one of the powerful multimedia tools which helps in capturing the attention of the learners. In Moodle, you can upload Animated / Screencast / Explainer videos as well. By including videos to your course it helps to bring content to life.
In Moodle, there are 3 different ways of displaying video. They are :
• Linking video to Video sharing sites such as (YouTube, Vimeo)
If your video is hosted on video sharing sites such as YouTube or Vimeo, you can copy the video link to your course and it will play within the Moodle LMS.
• Uploading the video in Moodle for the user to download
If you want the user to download the particular video, you can upload the video on Moodle and you can allow the user to download the video and save on his device.
• Embedding video on Moodle player
Embedding refers to use of video within the Moodle. You can copy paste the embedded video code in the Moodle. With the help of inbuilt video app “Flowplayer” it helps to view the embedded videos in Moodle.
I will explain you how to upload the video in Moodle
Step 1 : In the Dashboard of Moodle, on the top right side, click on “Turn Editing on”.

Step 2 : Click on “Add activity or resource” as shown in above image.

Step 3 : A pop-up window will appear, click on “Label” option and select “Add”.

• Avoid uploading video directly on Dashboard, instead use a Label and upload the video under Label section.
• Avoid using more than one video on the page as it will slow down the page load time.
Step 4 : In “Adding a new Label” click on “Media” option in order to add video to your course

In Moodle, the default upload limit is 50 MB and by changing the course settings you can increase the limit to 800 MB. When you are uploading a large video, you can always break it down into smaller clips or even share it outside the Moodle like YouTube or Vimeo.
Step 5 : After clicking Media, you will get a pop up to add a Link or Video or Audio to your course.

Step 6 : If you want to add Link to the image, click on “Link” option and paste the link URL in “SOURCE URL” box

When you embed the Video from Sharing sites such as YouTube, Vimeo it is still stored on the hosting site however you can directly view in Moodle.
