Implementing change in an organization is always a major task. Understanding the current requirement and budget with careful planning and execution plays a significant role. To ensure that the transition goes smooth one has to focus upon building up a proper plan and ways to make it more effective for the users. E-learning is no exception as many organizations are implementing digital learning, having said that this involves a lot of planning and thorough research. E-learning ultimate objective is to provide a quality training and convey the right message using various animated characters. It also helps the organization in cutting down their expenses as the same module can be used for a new batch of employees joined, with slight modification if required.

Let us now look at 5 key steps to implement it right:

Identify your E-learning needs: First and foremost ensure that all your training needs are sorted and identified as per the needs that can be met with E-learning. Start assessing whether these training needs are properly aligned to your business goals and is good enough to bring your cost down. The very purpose of implementing E-learning in an organization is to attain specific goals and justifying the investment incurred in it.

Research on the software to choose the right one: Many of the organization are in the wrong perception because of the flexibility that an E-learning module provides. They think its user friendly and flexible which is in-fact true but the medium used to design and deliver the content remains unknown to most of them. Organization should at-least have the basic idea about few authoring programs such as Lectora, Articulate or captivate.

Keep all the E-learning needs or requirements documented: Follow a formal process of collecting and documenting the E-learning requirements through specific surveys and feedback forms filled by the employees and the management will help you in identifying their training needs, requirements and opinions on E-learning.

Select appropriate programs that can be delivered via E-learning: No doubt E-learning has changed the way many approach their learning but also cant deny the fact that it is not suitable for all. Select the program and make it available to your learners using both online and traditional approach. The reason being, not all the programs are preferred to convert it into an E-learning module. By making it available in both the mediums organizations will get an idea on whether to go ahead with the option of E-learning or stick with the traditional approach.

Check out whether the organization is ready for E-learning: Carry out a survey to assess how much the organization is ready to accept the E-learning for a change. It might not be the best option as there are many factors that needs to be considered such as psychological, social, environmental, human resource, technological, financial, and content readiness. A lack of or reduced readiness to any of these factors does not mean a halt to E-learning implementation. It implies taking measures to improve the readiness factors for E-learning success.
