Gaming elements bring engagement in the learning experience to the user and when it comes to mobile learning it doesn’t change as the game elements play a big role here too.

As the technology has advanced and with the millennials spending more time on mobile multimedia devices, the relevance for mobile learning has increased in a big way.

In this blog, I am writing about exactly 5 gaming elements for mobile learning.

1.Logo.

We all know that Logo has a great importance in creating an impression or a brand identity.Every company has a logo that can represent its culture, mission, and vision etc.
While designing modules for mobile learning, the logo has a big importance.Having a good logo will set the whole theme for the game and really establishes as a game.

2.Instructions Page

When the learner steps into an e-learning module, it should be made understood with the instructions thoroughly what he needs to do and clearly define how to play the game. This will avoid the confusion and also help learners to get a higher score or do better.

3.Scoreboard/ Game Board.

As I am speaking here about the gaming elements, scoreboards have got a higher importance among the gaming elements for mobile learning. With the latest technologies, every single learner can get his profile and the scores are added with their names which becomes a motivational factor for them to do learn and do better than best. A game board should be developed with a clear objective which helps to progress the learner through that game board.

4.Assessment.

I agree to the view that learning doesn’t complete unless there is an assessment to evaluate what or how much the learner has learned from the module.
Assessments can be incorporated at different levels to evaluate the progress of the learner, how much knowledge he has acquired etc.Adding a quick timer, hints etc.makes the learner feels that they have to accept the challenge and do well and it doesn’t look like asking a simple question and select which answer is correct.

5.Result Page

The final essential part of any game is the end results. The results page will give the end user the final outcome of how they did. Since we are talking about learning games, the developer can add a ‘play again’ button, which will allow the user to play again and again practice the content they need to know.

With these elements, one can create engaging games that will help learners be more prepared and more knowledgeable about what they are learning.

Happy Mobile Learning!
